The sessions are participant-led meaning we can adapt them to your individual circumstances and requirements but we aim to include all of the following too:
Addressing any current pregnancy issues and questions. This does not include clinical care as you have your midwives (and if relevant your consultant too), but to give you time to talk through any questions you have about your pregnancy journey so far.
Preparation for birth, knowing your options, understanding your body’s physiology in birth, preparing your birth plan, how to identify the onset of labour, coping strategies, supporting partners to support birth, longer pregnancies, what does induction of labour entail, what to do when plans don’t go to plan, options for pharmacological pain management in labour, decision making aids, home birth, hospital / birth centre birth, optimising your baby’s unique microbiome, optimal cord clamping, what about your placenta?
The physiology of just after birth for you both, protecting the ‘golden hours’, vitamin K options, facilitating bonding and feeding in straightforward and complex circumstances, what to expect from your baby, what to expect from your body.
Early postnatal period, nappies, safe handling, feeding, what’s normal, sleep, bonding, ‘baby mooning’, your body and what to expect. We aim to have a past-participant and their baby join us, so you can ask questions, see how a new baby behaves, and work out what your ‘new normal’ with a baby might be!
Ongoing parenting, bathing your baby safely, facilitating infant development, feeding challenges and support, car seats, slings and prams or buggies, where to find help, how to confidently parent your child.
